Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernández kicks-off the holiday season on Friday, November 24 at 7 p.m. with a Merry-Achi Christmas Concert — the only mariachi Christmas event in the Midwest.
Mariachi Institute of Chicago (MIC) welcomes you the Merry-Achi Christmas Concert and the return of internationally recognized Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernandez for an evening of traditional mariachi music, Mexican posada songs, and favorite Christmas classics.
This year, the spirit of the season goes into full effect upon hearing the signature sounds and horns of the Mariachi Sol de México the day after Thanksgiving. Watch founder of Mariachi Sol de México, Maestro Hernández passionately direct this exuberant, Merry-Achi Christmas Concert with his ensemble and MIC’s very own Embajador de Mexico under the theater’s breathtaking star-filled sky ceiling.

Founded by Dr. Blanca Murillo, the Mariachi Institute of Chicago (MIC) is a mariachi conservatory that provides quality instruction in violin, guitar, trumpet, vihuela, guitarrón, harp, vocals and very soon folkloric dance. In addition to providing low-cost instruction to students 8 to16 years-old, MIC works to increase performance and teaching opportunities to professional mariachi musicians along with creating culturally enriching experiences for audiences throughout the Chicagoland area.
Proceeds from the ticket sales help support the Mariachi Institute of Chicago’s music programs, scholarships, and travel to the annual International Mariachi Conference.
