Alfonso Cuarón and Jonas Cuarón present “Desierto” during the closing night of the Los Angeles Film Festival
During the Los Angeles Film Festival’s closing night on June 9, Mexican filmmakers, Alfonso Cuarón and Jonas Cuarón presented the film “Desierto.” Among those present were other members of the production team including producers, Carlos Cuarón and Alex Garcia, as well as Executive Producer, Nicolas Celis. Hours before the event, it was announced that “Desierto,” which stars Gael Garcia Bernal, will be released in select U.S. theaters on October 14.
From Jonás Cuarón and Alfonso Cuarón, the acclaimed filmmakers of Gravity, comes a unique, modern vision of terror. “Desierto”is a visceral, heart-pounding suspense-thriller packed with tension and suspense from start to finish, starring Gael García Bernal (The Motorcycle Diaries and Y Tu Mamá También) and Jeffrey Dean Morgan (Watchmen). What begins as a hopeful journey to seek a better life becomes a harrowing and primal fight for survival when a deranged, rifle-toting vigilante chases a group of unarmed men and women through the treacherous U.S.-Mexican border. In the harsh, unforgiving desert terrain, the odds are stacked firmly against them as they continuously discover there’s nowhere to hide from the unrelenting, merciless killer.
Jonas Cuarón, writer, producer and director of the film, explains “Desierto” discusses important issues and he hopes the audience get something out of the thriller.
“Desierto” releases in select theaters on October 14, 2016.
