HOLLYWOOD, CA—MARCH 1, 2017—Antonio Jaramillo (Notorious, Shades of Blue, Devious Maids, Dallas, Gang Related) has been cast to play Michael “Riz” Ariza in FX’s Mayans MC, Kurt Sutter’s Sons of Anarchy spinoff.

Jaramillo’s character “Riz” is the even-tempered and charming vice president of the Mayans MC, San Padre and former leader of a local Mexican MC, patched over by the Mayans.

Jaramillo returns to the small screen after his breakthrough performance, opposite Jennifer Lopez, in the hit NBC series, Shades of Blue.  His role as Harlee’s (Jennifer Lopez) estranged lover Miguel Zepeda, was a fan favorite which captivated audiences in the first season and his performance in the Season Finale sent shock waves through social media.

Jaramillo joins the stellar cast including Edward James Olmos and John Ortiz. Mayans MC was co-created by Kurt Sutter and Elgin James. Sutter is set to executive produce and direct the pilot; James isco-executive producer for Fox 21 TV Studios and FX Prods.

“It’s going to be a wonderful ride!” said Jaramillo about working with show creators Sutter and James. “I’m excited about the opportunity of working with the creators of such an iconic series, Sons of Anarchy, and the amazing cast they’ve assembled including Edward James Olmos and John Ortiz!”

Mayans MC will follow EZ Reyes, a prospect in the Mayan MC charter on the Cali/Mexi border.  EZ is the gifted son of a proud Latino family, whose American dream was snuffed out by cartel violence.  In the much-anticipated SOA spinoff series, EZ struggles with his desire for vengeance against the local cartel and his need for the women in his life to respect him.

Antonio Jaramillo, whose feature breakout role was in Oliver Stone’s Savages (2012/Universal), is repped by SMS Talent, McKeon/Myones Management, and The Herrera Agency.
